Enjoy the Journey

As CPAs we tend to be very deadline oriented, and that spills over in how we handle holidays like Christmas. Often we see it as a series of goals or tasks to be accomplished.

  • Put up the decorations
  • Mail the cards
  • Get the shopping done
  • Make it to all the required parties
  • Plan the travel to the in-laws

By the time Christmas actually comes, we are just glad we got everything done. But if we do that, we miss the real fun of the season. Christmas should be about the journey, not the completion of the tasks. So, as we enter this wonderful time of year, let’s all sit back, take a deep breath and maybe just enjoy a few more of the moments and not worry as much if everything isn’t perfect or completed. You might find what doesn’t get done didn’t really matter and your stress level is way lower.

I will publish one more blog next week, but then I’m taking the rest of the year off from writing. In that light, I hope you had a happy and healthy 2015, and I wish you the same for 2016.

Merry Christmas!
